Dale Jr. is becoming a pretty good interviewer.
I listened to this whole interview on his podcast; it's a couple of hours long, (this Youtube hit is just a snippet) and the whole time, I was hanging on every word. Mears was my guy in the '80's.
(Disclosure, I love Mears, but I also think he props up his humble act a little, maybe in the same way that British expats sometimes goose the accent to impress the audience) I love podcasts of all stripes but these interviews that Dale Jr is doing are becoming a real treat for me. Last week he interviewed Ricky Carmichael, the motocrosser - it was fantastic; Dale can obviously can get any Nascar driver or personality alive, and he does, and he did a good show with Little Al that was kind of heartbreaking. I think the combination of Junior's enthusiasm and the long format work together to bring out stories that other hosts can't or don't get. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ef-ayCeZTOs" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I’ve watched a lot of his podcasts, I agree, he does a good job.

What I like about Dale is that he gets out of the way and lets the guests talk.
The Robert Wickens interview is epic. Having lived thru and SCI, I can relate, and Wick gives terrific insight into the thought process. |

Wickens is in my queue. These are great interviews for long stretches of windshield time. |
Tar-Heel Earnhardt? Lot of my kin are from them parts. And yeup Nascar originated from there. The sport is a middle finger at non-southern folks round this country. But y'all will never know. Heh-heh!;)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652458904.jpg
