Hotchkis RSR in North Carolina (some pictures)
I've been fortunate enough to meet and befriend John Hotchkis over the past few months here in North Carolina. John moved his business to Mooresville, NC from SoCal at the end of 2019. We met at a swap meet earlier this year and got to talking. Some of you SoCal guys probably already know his family's story much better than I, but I was really impressed when I first heard it. And John is such a genuinely nice and humble guy. You'd never know he drove 962's as well back in the day. ;)
He was kind enough to trailer his family's '73 RSR to our Cars and Cappuccino show yesterday So cool to hear it and see it run yesterday. For the unaware, John's father (John Sr.) ran the car and finished Le Mans in 1977 with this car with co-drivers Dennis Aase and Robert Kirby. John later ran the car at the Daytona 24 in 1980. Fun fact: John's younger brother apparently worked at Pelican for a number of years in the past. Now he is with Porsche. Enjoy the pictures. The first one is the car running at LeMans in 1977. Third picture is John speaking with former Porsche factory racing mechanic Martin Steger (who is also a really nice guy). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652740258.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652740258.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652740258.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652740258.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652740258.JPG |

That is one very well developed and well driven race car. Mark piloted it at Laguna Seca in a mixed bag race filled with 935's, 934's, RSR's etc. Mark managed to lay waste to a lot of faster machinery.
It sings... Wonder if John will bring back in August to Laguna for the Rolex Tribute to Le Mans focused historics ? |
when is the next one
