Competitors in the Isle of Man TT races "know the risk but the passion carries on", says former champion Steve Plater.

It follows five deaths during the return of the event after a two-year hiatus because of Covid-19.

Rough year this year. I'm not sure if it was the two years away or what. They have been doing better for some time, what with more stringent rider qualifications and what not, so this was rather unexpected. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones to this. Remember, however, that no one makes them go. There is a waiting list some threefold deep of riders who want to vs. those that get to go, so there is no shortage of men willing and eager to face this challenge. They all know exactly what they are getting into. Godspeed to all of them.
