Dryer sheets

There is something magical in dryer sheets that triggers a repulsion in me that is strong and unique. I really am repelled by the smell.

I can smell this even if I am driving my Boxster (top down) past a home where someone is doing laundry. I hate the smell.

Am I alone in this or is it common?
Thanks!

Are you part mosquito?

They make towels virtually waterproof. No kidding. For those who have not noticed this, check it out. If you want your towels to be absorbent, stop using fabric softener.

Drive a 911 and ya prolly won't even notice 'em :D

AHHH....the smell of oil and gas in the morning...its a thing of beauty

And the smell of all the hairdresser products in your Boxster doesn't bother you?

You may be on to something though:

Is the smell of dryer sheets toxic?
They've been linked to respiratory illnesses, including asthma, and cancer. According to the Air Quality, Atmosphere & Health study, VOCs emitted from dryer vents after using popular brands of laundry detergent and scented dryer sheets included chemicals like acetaldehyde and benzene, which are considered carcinogenic

Some of them smell bad. Some are unpleasant if they are too strong. Some give me a bit of a warm fuzzy, because they remind me of the smell when I was growing up.

We don't use them. I've heard that the way that they soften your clothes is by breaking down the fibers which makes the clothes not last as long.

I can sometimes be driving behind a car on the freeway where someone is smoking in the car with a window down, and I find that repulsive.

Dryer sheets are the go to method to keep critters out of stored campers, cars, etc so they must be toxic at some level.

I find them overpowering, so I rip them in 3 pieces and only use one third of the sheet for laundry . I do not use them on my own stuff, only on my wife's, and kids clothes . I don't really even like them for sheets and towels .
In college, we had a toilet paper tube stuffed with them, so that we could blow our bong hits into and not get caught smoking in the dorms . Good times

I use blue plastic balls with nipples in my dryer and they work well. (tennis ball size)

:)

My wife has become sensitive to smells the last few years and loses her s##t when the neighbours
put the dryer on. The smell can be overpowering even 50 ft. away. She uses the balls as well.
BTW They don't work to keep mice away.

I've had towels dried with dryer sheets and without. I couldn't notice any difference in absorbency.
A dryer load of clothes with no dryer sheets comes out with half of it stuck together due to static electricity.

I say Yes to dryer sheets. :)

I agree. Even worst is pulling up at a stop light and some moron with windows down, blowing that stench into the intersection.
