Pull-A-Part Score Part 2
I went back to Pull-A-Part today and got a few more things for the RX.
I picked up a factory jack to replace the bent one that I currently have I also picked up a factory gas cap with tether to replace the aftermarket one that is currently on the car also. I got the front door lock actuators, steering column trim in black to facilitate a color change, wood and black leather shifter knob and wood and black leather steering wheel!!! The steering wheel cost $12.99, there is currently one just like it on ebay for $142.00. I think I did pretty good!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Those are some great finds! I can’t believe the steering wheel was only $13. I wonder what I’m missing out at my local Pick-Your-Part.

That steering wheel was an amazing steal and the other parts were a score but the wood on the shifter doesn't match the steering wheel in the least...off by a mile. Were you planning on using them together?

Yes, the shifter and wheel will be installed into my 2000 RX300. I was amazed that the steering wheel was in such good condition, no scratches or chips in the wood and the leather has minimal wear also. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

I don't think that jack has ever been used. It was mounted in the factory position under the storage tray, still has labels on it and blue grease on the screw.

This guy is pretty good at pulling a Subaru radiator and engine, although he struggled a bit with the transmission.

I have a pint of Color-Plus black 911 leather dye that I could send you some of to get a uniform finish on the steering wheel.

My favorite was getting a 944 oil pressure relief valve for $2, “What is it? Bolt? Two bucks”

So how do you go about getting parts at a pick and pull? Do you call ahead to make sure they have a x model car and year in the lot or just take a chance and go regardless? Do you start yanking stuff out of cars then bring the parts up to the counter and pay when you’re done? How do you know what they’ll charge for parts?

How about a genuine 944 Saratoga glass moonroof (in great condition) for $19.99.

There is a price list on the website also so you can look up what the cost of the part is ahead of time. Once you arrive at the Pull-A-Part "store", you pay 2 bucks, if you have a membership card, it is only 1 buck, they take your picture and off you go. Once out in the yard you will see that vehicles are categorized into sections, you have your Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Imports sections and each section has rows that are numbered. Each vehicle will have a number and a label on the quarter panel stating the year and make of the car and the vehicles are raised off the ground on stands made from old rims welded together so that you can easily get under the vehicle. The ground is all gravel, no laying in dirt. I usually grab a mat of some sort out of a car to lay on if I need something from under the car, then when I'm finished, I throw the mat back inside the car so someone else may be able to use it. So anyway, pretty well organized stuff. I usually watch a video of how to remove a particular part and that way I know what tools I need to bring, I take some tools in a bag and when I get in the yard I grab a wheel barrow for hauling things around, makes it a whole lot easier. Hope this explains it well. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
