Anyone here using a cigarette lighter battery tender?

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work. Just a wire and a fuse added. This assumes the connection at the back of the cigarette lighter is good. Mine became not good over time. This would be one reason to not plug a tender in at that spot.

Does your lighter switch off with the ignition? Many newer cars do. That will not work...

My Cayman came with the Porsche one. Yeah, it works really well. I think CTek makes it. It's really easy to forget it's there, so place something on your steering wheel to remind you to remove it before backing out.

I have the Porsche one and used it on my 996 turbo and 987. Never worked on the 930s.

Yep I use one daily in my Boxster S . The lighter socket has to be " live " with the key off . This is just to keep the battery topped off . You are not going to charge a dead battery the wire gauge is too small .

The actual ciggie lighter I think is always on but the secondary 12 sockets like ciggie lighter i think might turn off?

In any case , i find it annoying to have to leave door/window open.
I did a charger connector under the bonnet that i can get to without opening the bonnet.

Much easier to connect if the car stood a bit long and i walk by; i just plug it in

I don't smoke, so I don't have a cigarette lighter that has batteries that needs to be charged!

On my 1980s cars there is nothing to save. Even the stereos seem to keep their settings now.

For my wife's car, the 2017 Macan she drives it regularly, and the battery stays charged. I do have a Autel OBD2 gizmo to tell the Macan it has a new battery, and to introduce them, and to play nice together. With her old Mercedes I replaced the battery, and I had to go to the dealership and pay them over $100 to hook it to the computer so the windows would roll up properly, and the sunroof would work right.

I do have a battery maintainer on my 85 911. I mounted the small unit inside the trunk, and have it hard wired into place. I just plug a extension cord into it and plug it into the wall in the dead of winter if it will be a month or more before I drive it.
