May 2022 weight "drop" challenge!

Wow! 20 lbs. in 3 weeks is impressive. Congrats.
How are you doing it? What's the diet? |
6 years ago was pushing 295 and A1C numbers were indicating I was setting myself up for a big issue.
Cut out excessive sugar - no sugar in coffee, no Coke, no sweet tea (here in the south that is a big deal), and not pigging out on desserts (ie, at end of term when I get donuts for my students, I have one donut, not 3 or 5). No other real changes, and only the first two or three days of no sugar in the coffee sucked. Down to 205 as of last week, belt has had 4 extra holes punched in it, and I really need new jeans and shorts - I can carry a full size pistol on a in-the-waistband holster on each side and still have room. Waiting until probably end of summer to hit 199 or less before I buy new clothes. |
I’ve lost 25 since the last week in April. Cut out red meat, any drink with sugar, and added fiber. All because of a bout with diverticulitis. Not fun.

Is it alright with you if we shorten that up and call you 'Stubby'? :D Congrats on the weight loss. |

Thanksgiving +90 days, 30 pounds just counting calories. Next 60 days no change but was a wee bit sloppy. Last 30 days more sloppy but nowhere near my potential of eating like a sow. Gained five and I can feel it. I was eighty lbs overweight when I started so a good fifty to go. Doctor says "Less Bob". |

I cut out (excessive) sugar nearly a year ago because every evening I was gorging on sweets/chocolate biscuits/sweet deserts, then getting a sugar hit, then crashing out. Not healthy. So I went cold turkey on sugar. Stomach has slowly shrunk back, but what I most enjoy is not having that God awful sugar crash feeling. Not that I care but I guess I've lost 13lb. I still eat huge amounts of anything and everything other than sugar. |
I'm nine days into total keto - no carbs at all other than wine and hard liquor. The test strips show in moderate to strong ketosis. Lifting weights has become super difficult with no carbs, but I need to slim down. Will turn it off during a trip to Europe in July, then back on again once home.
|
Anxiety and other things - down maybe 20# in 18 months. Just no appetite at the moment...
Now I need to exercise, especially as there's less lard to drag around. Bike's at the bike-hospital and the trails are still closed here in N NM, so it's a little restricted. Perhaps a walk, but why when I have wheels? |

Took me years to put it on a pound or two per month... I don't mind taking it off at the same rate. |
^^^^ Impressive :). Unlike when I was younger.... my weight can (and does) fluctuate now... it slipped up on me the past year or so. I cut out sweet drinks a LONG time ago... H2O, black coffee, & OJ is about it for me anymore.

Congrats on the weight loss! Just make sure you're losing the weight in a healthy manner and not starving yourself. I'm going to get back on the exercise kick once we get past the graduation party for my youngest and our vacation. I figure there's no point in starting just so I can mess up all the work I put in.

I just cut down on portions, cut out stuff that my not be "bad", but doesn't help, added some salads and just burn it off ... I still don't go hungry :D |
At 170, I'm not overly concerned about my weight. What concerns me is I've gotten visceral fat I didn't have until a few years ago. I've cut down on sugar and other things that contribute to weight gain and exercise a decent amount for my age, but nothing seems to work. My wife & sister claim I'm just like other old men, getting a bulgy middle and skinny (or becoming skinny) limbs.
