Glad you pulled the plug. But…being only 30 miles away, why wait for delivery at all? Much less, for $900? Pretty sure I’d have been there within hours of the first indication of mysterious delay.

Hope this next one works out for you. Keep us posted. We’re all living vicariously through you! A nice Jag in the garage, baby.

There are a lot of issues with Carvana - but the biggest for me is you never see anyone face-to-face. Also when something goes wrong, where are you supposed to take it for 'warranty' work? Who determines the online ratings? The car business itself is one giant rip-off, both internally and to the customers. Now add faceless, no brick and mortar businesses............

Is it better when someone lies to you in person or gives you p.ss poor service? For warranty you'd take it to whatever dealer carries the line you bought if it's still under manufacturer's warranty. Otherwise most aftermarket warranties allow you to take it to any ASE certified mechanic.

Do we get more trusting as we get older? Or is it carelessness?

asphaltgambler 06-14-2022 11:29 AM

I want to see the car 1st in person.......

Somewhat interesting update.

Car is back on Carvana.

I looked at the extended inspection report again.

3 areas noted as fixed.

Tire or tires, it's not clear if one or all.

Something with front bumper on passenger side as well as just passenger side.

Odd because I don't recall seeing that earlier and there are a couple of scuffs on drivers side noted as imperfections prior to the delay. Minor scratches in the clear coat that don't catch a finger nail so should be able to buff out.

If you had to attend to a body work issue on one side that required fixing why wouldn't you just wheel out the other side? Seems to reinforce something happened after Thursday when we made the deal.

Also, the car is available as soon as Saturday which seems to say they got it fixed faster than expected when they told me Monday delivery.

Or they are just full of all kinds of **** which I'm pretty sure they are.

There is a Carvana just a dozen miles from my house. The big vending machine looking building, and from the news reports when it opened, insert a huge oversize "coin" and your car is dispensed. I thought that was stupid then and now. Why would anyone buy a used car they had not looked at, and test driven?

I figured they would be out of business already, but something is propping them up. Not my business.

Logistics.

These things are not like Camrys where you can throw a rock while blindfolded and hit one.

I'm looking at the last generation, 2010-2016.

Less than 9,000 total crossed the pond.

2,137 in production year 2010 and declined every year after. Final production year saw a total of 3 cross the pond.

At any given point there's only 100 of them on the market nationwide.

Half are convertibles and I'm only interested in Coupes.

For what I'm specifically looking for there may be 30, max, available at any given point in time.

Sometimes you just have to roll the dice.

There is a conclusion though.

Sometimes things happen for a reason.

The Carvana car was me settling because I've been searching for more than a month and could not find the exact car that ticked all the boxes

The day Carvana delayed my delivery a new one came on the market.

1 year newer, 4k less miles, same price.

Pics next week when it gets delivered.

Because you get a 7 day, full 100% money back guarantee to return it for any reason. And they deliver it both ways..

they are booming... Most cars don't last a week.. Totally caters to the "I want it now" crowd.. ( like me.. ;)

Exactly, plenty of time to get a PPI after delivery and still unwind the deal.

Their delivery vehicles alone make me distrust the business model . They put a big gay fake plastic fairing down the side of a UD truck and try to convince the public that they are something different, new , exciting .
Makes me wonder if the rest of it is smoke and mirrors also, but I am weird like that .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655469511.jpg

stomachmonkey 06-19-2022 05:32 PM

The conclusion.

This one hit the market same day Carvana informed me
of the “Quality Issue” and ticks every box.

2012 with an even 40k

Got delivered a bit more than an hour ago.

It’s immaculate. Not a scratch dent ding chip on it. Interior is perfect. Flawless.

Happy Father’s day to me.

looks like a brilliant car! The whole thing seems to be one of those karma meant to be things, great car for a great guy. Someone's looking out for you.
