Don't fall for this hack - text from "Amazon"

I got a text a few mins ago. Most of us would not fall for this, but if you were distracted, it would be possible to not notice and click the link. I'm sure the link takes you to a page that looks like an Amazon login page.

Right, most of us wouldn't fall for this, the origin is not Amazon, and the link is not Amazon. I had a buddy that was in IT and normally very savvy. He was super busy and distracted one day and got an email or something with a link. He clicked the link and the site looked "right," but, of course, wasn't. He had to go through all of the hassle to get his accounts fixed afterward.

I got an automated call that $500 worth of Apple products had been ordered to "my online shopping portal".

I had a few minutes to waste someone's time. Did the crazy old man routine. Young kid with perfect english was from 'Amazon' and wanted me to read off numbers on my account to verify. "But I didn't get a bill." "You tell me what it says. Can you spell it out, my hearing is not so good?" "State full first name." "Bob Saget is what my friends call me. You're my friend aren't ya? Just call me Bob."

10 minutes in he's starting to get pissed.
He didn't even hang up when I called him a CS twice and wanted to whip his hiney behind the saddle shed just like the good old days. lol

15 minutes in and I'm still insulting him in character.
My game. My rules. Never gave an inch. He finally gets pissed uses my deceased father's middle name and hangs up.

You get taken off the lists when it starts costing them time and money.

I get this call often. Funny, since I don't buy anything from amazon.

Just an FYI.

Sadly no free Apple gear, no vehicle warranty renewal, no $500 signing bonus for a mailed-in credit card application, no home sale for cash in hand. It's actually quite therapeutic to just randomly free-think once in a while, dust off those acting skills, talk soft and then primal scream. Karma push-back.

Good reminder OP.
