Mitsubishi Mirage 2021
 

Anyone know anything about these cars? Can any shop work on these? They reliable?
I’m trying to help my daughter find a car.

I’ve not owned a Mirage but have had 3 Mitsu’s in the past.

Always thought i’d own another some day.

I like them as a brand.

Quality vehicles.

Styling is often a bit unconventional but in a good way.

Lack of popularity i think is more due to lack of awareness / marketing.

For me that translates to value, makes them a good deal.

Made have to google it.

Repairs should not be a concern.

The only knock seems to be they are a bit anemic but at that entry price point that’s going to be a given. Not a lot of reasons to say no and plenty to say yes.

I have a relative who owned a Hyundai that went through engines like they were cheap. When the Hyundai lost its third or forth engine, She got rid of it and bought a Mitsubishi Mirage and hasn't hand any issues with it.

Why not get something reliable and with good resale- like a Civic or Corolla?

Because right now even on the secondary market, where you won’t get a 10 year warranty, Civic and Camrys values are inflated.

Mirage you can still get brand new from dealer with discounts because it’s not as well known.

And at the price point even for new Mirage it’s a car you drive into the ground.

And who says the Mirage is not reliable?

I suspect if someone's talking about getting a 2021, they would consider a new car as well. I believe in benchmarking a 1-3 year old used car against a new one. Oftentimes, the new one will be the better deal on price, warranty, choice of color and options, financing, and lack of adverse history, especially if a car with high resale value.

Look at the resale value projections of a Mirage vs a Corolla. At 10 years, the Mirage shows 42.5% vs 69% for the Corolla:

That’s not a bad review at all. I thought it was actually a good review.

Great safety rating, impressive gas mileage, ample cargo room, some nice features like CarPlay and that 10/100,000 warranty is tough to beat.

They ding it on power but that’s what you’ll get with any car in this class and you are not buying it for that anyway.

It’s an appliance vehicle.

If OP’s daughter lives in a city or dense population center then cars like this make a lot of sense.

I wouldn’t regularly take one on hours long drives but again, that’s not what you buy these for.

The car is what it is and doesn’t pretend to be anything more so why knock it?

Mirage, Marriage, neither are likely to last 10 years so I wouldn't contemplate that as part of the purchase.
