What's this white coating in the bowl of my carb

It wipes off like a paste on the red rag. Its all over the inside. 2 stroke 50 cc.

I can't seem to get this little cab to run correctly. Its fuel starved after 5-10 min of running. Changing out float as we speak. Everything on it is new. Driving me nuts.

I think the technical term for it is "crud". I believe that "crud" is the result of ethanol fuel. Pull the main jet and clean it. Try to blow carb cleaner through the ports then follow with air. Then hit it with carb cleaner again. If it's on the housing of the carb, it's probably in the ports that bypass the butterfly and other passages.

Yeah, "crud" sounds about right. Looks like the same junk that I have found in my push mower's carburetor. In fact this reminds me that I need to clean the carb because it also acts like it is fuel starved.

I've been using the quart or gallon size containers of non-ethanol high octane fuel in my weed whipper and blower.
Amazed at how easy they start now.

Fuel starved, is there a fuel filter in the tank? Check flow to the carb, hose possibly degraded.

Did you pull the emulsion tube and clean it?

BTW, I'd bet for about $15-$20 you could buy a whole new carb on Amazon and quit messing with that one.

Its for my Puch moped. I had it apart about 5 times with all new internals nin the past 10-12 miles of riding. last time I ran it was about 10 mins tops then its starve of fuel again. I have to wait for the bowl to fill then it will go again. Its hit or miss. Sometimes it will go for 15 min other times, its 5 min. Jets are clean. I can see it. I am tempted to buy one of those cheap 20 dollars carb off Amazon, but afraid that they are even worst them what I have not. All fuel line and filter is clean and new.

All right, crud it is. Thanks a bunch. My floater seem to be working in a tub of water. No leaks or holes.

Sounds more like a fuel line/shutoff/filter/needle and float issue. If it runs ok then starts starving for fuel, You've got a supply issue. Check fuel flow to the carb by pulling the supply line and running it into a clear cup.

It floats... well, dribbles fine. That was the first thing I checked.

So it starts off running fine and after a few minutes it starts running rough? Possible vapor lock. Check your fuel cap. Most are vented. If the vent gets plugged I think that can cause vapor lock.

This might be worth a read I didn't follow it all the way through because I have ADD.

I've bought a few on Amazon. Only one I had any issues with was one that was supposed to work on my zero turn mower. For a few of my smaller engines they worked well. But I still think you might have something affecting the fuel flow since you seem to indicate it runs fine and then after a few minutes starts running crappy. Maybe when it starts running crappy, twist the fuel cap off and see if it picks up runs right.

The ones on Amazon are hit or miss. I did buy one for my Puch Maxi and it worked just fine. You need the 12 mm carb.

^This a good place to start. 10 minutes is the clue.

Check one other thing, I think there should be a vent in the top of the float bowl, make sure it is not blocked.
