Readers?

So, for the last 10 years my vision has gone to heck and I need readers. Just busted my favorite pair on vacation and bought some more on amazon.

I have prescription ones on now, but I am down to one pair. I put these suckers everywhere and like to have many.

What does the brain trust say?

TIA!

Started needing them about 3 years ago.

Typically have spare set in each vehicle and on desk at home and work. Currently have last spare pair of very comfy ones that I can't find anymore locked up in my gun safe (I told the wife to put them in a safe place. She did.)

Have appointment for real eye doc to see about real glasses (the 200 yard targets aren't so crisp anymore) next week....

FWIW in our area where we have tons of folks stopping by we typically have a basked of 'em at various powers for loaning as needed...

My kids laugh at me. I carry readers when I go out (1.5) At home, I find for computer and TV, zero lens in the left eye works better, so I remove the left lens.

I had RK surgery in the '90s, touch up laser a few years ago, and multifocal cataract lens in the left eye. While I was used to great vision for about 25 years, now I see shadows and double images. Remnants of the RK, magnified by the improved lens of the cataract

You are not alone.

I'm near-sighted and wear contact lenses so need readers when I'm wearing those and not when not wearing them.

I have readers in:
1) bathroom
2) bedroom bedside table
3) kitchen
4) computer desk
5) TV room desk
6) garage
7) Volvo
8)Silverado
9) All classic cars
10) back patio

My optometrist informed me I needed 2.0 power so that's what I use.

The last couple batches I bought from Amazon.

BTW...these are very handy working in the garage. I also keep a pair in my work truck......

Costco, 3 pair for $16 I think? I have them all over the place. I had one pair made from a prescription and could not wear them, liked the Costco ones better. Baz good idea on those safety glasses, $24 up here.

I go to dollar tree and buy them. I break or scratch them using them in my shop working on cars or I lose them. For $1.25 per pair, I just buy several pairs and use them when I need them.

One of the things that has most p...ed me off about my eyesight getting worse over the last five years is that I have to wear glasses when working on my car vehicles. Left eye is bad for distance but pretty good up close. Right eye is bad up close but good for distance. I'm told I have natural "mono vision". Coming from my early mid 40's where my vision was perfect to now needing glasses to see clearly up close and at distance really sucks.

I get mine with blue light blocking in them for computer screens. Especially during Covid, when classes were moved to zoom, I started getting terrible headaches from looking at the screen too long.

When I was 41, I started to notice a tiny degradation in the vision in my left eye. I'm >50 now, and wearing prescription glasses. I did wear cheap cheaters for a while, but I finally bought some prescription glasses (glasses, sunglasses, etc...) and they are so much better (optics, coatings, etc...) and more comfortable, that I'll not go back.

I put cheap readers everywhere too.

At work we have to wear safety glasses on the shop floor so we stock safety glasses with readers in them. So of course those become my go to garage glasses. Everyone thinks I'm super safety conscious in my garage but really I just can't see.

At my desk at work I wear cheap progressive readers with 2.0 at bottom for reading and half or 1.0 at top for the computer.

I have bought one pair of nice prescription readers with zero at top and 2.0 at bottom so I can wear them to read when I have contacts in but still see the TV or something in the distance.

I have multiple pairs of Costco readers. I'm only ay 1.25 so I can usually get by if I don't have them handy.

Recently I bought a pair of this companies readers with the "blue block" coating, nice glasses...

If your prescription is standard - same power both eyes - readers.com is a good option.
They also sell sunglasses with reader optics (sort of bifocals) for $20 or less. There are very often coupons to drop the prices 40%. I've ordered from them 3 or 4 times.

I don't need "readers" not even for my own posts. I could sure use some "writers" tho' ;)

Some great ideas! I have bought the amazon bulk buy many times. Love the safety glasses idea. Also, checked out readers.com. Looks promising. Thanks!

Dollar store, multiple pairs, all sorts of magnifications, I get the cheap croakie leash for every pair at the same time.

I've got so many that they're everywhere except where I am when I need them.
