Guys this is the easiest/simplest fix. Move the hinge to the right side of the cover. It will then open against the existing brick wall. Problem solved without spending a dime.

A bi-fold opening to the right was originally considered but ultimately dismissed.

The wall faces East so gets full sun from 7am till 3 pm.

It’s TX, the sun is brutally strong which is something you may have familiarity with where you live.

Flipping up should keep the glare off and mitigate weird shadows from the pergola awning.

One rope (tied to the handle), one small pulley centered behind the 3rd cross piece, and one tie-off on the side. And hire a pool boy with the $$$ I saved ya :D

I've never had to maintain a pool before and I'm one of those people that insists on knowing how to do the job that I would hire someone else to do.

How else am I to know whether or not the pool really needs a blinker fluid top off.

What about an arm/hinge that hold the table up like on this chair, but for both sides. Ya, you'd still probably need a big stick.

Some reference for all those suggesting the pole method. Yes it will work but it’s less than ideal.

It’s hard to understand just how big and high off the ground this thing is.

Still a work in progress, running more power throughout the yard today.

The pool is a party pool. We noticed whenever we went to other peoples homes for pool parties the adults all stand around the sides and no one really swims.

This pool is 4.5 ft at its deepest so even my wife can walk across the whole thing with a cocktail in hand.

Far left is the tanning ledge, far right the jacuzzi. In between them is a love seat. The coping around the tanning ledge is bar height so you can stand in the pool and have a place to put a drink.

Mid left is a 4x4 stone table that seats 8-10 on all 4 sides. We sit there in the evenings and play board games.

Across from that is the waterfall, off in this pic, with a bench under it that seats another 5-6.

She does however make the most perfectly awesome steak.

She's also fiercely loyal and will cut you in a heartbeat if you F with me.

I still vote for a linear actuator. I use one on my snowblower for chute control. They hold up to bad weather, they are simple to install. Often used to raise very heavy items, and clearly you have power behind the Tv so it’s a no brainer. You can even use a wireless remote to raise/lower the cover.
