Automotive electrical wiring question
I added three Autometer gauges to my E46 and used 18 gauge wire per the directions but have a question for the switched power and ground wires.
I daisy chained the three grounds to ground and daisy chained to switched power to power as well. Does this present a problem or should I run separate power and ground to each one? Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by A930Rocket; 07-02-2022 at 04:09 PM.. |

Nope. Just make sure the ground is good.

you're fine, none of those gauges draw any real amperage.

I did not get a chance to drive it tonight, but I will take it for a spin tomorrow and see how things look. |

edited: The next gauges on the chain will interfere with the ground potential for the ones before. They need separate feeds and grounds if possible.

I would have suggested pig tails to each of the 3 gauges rather than daisy chain the connections.

It's DC right? I would not daisy chain the 12v power. But you could run them off of a 12v block or fusible link. I think daisy chain for ground is no problem.
