^ That bottom rail can accept a Viridian lights and laser set up.

My Grail gun... The "Walther P99 twotone".

A long time ago I had a Solothurn licensed copy of a standard CZ 75. They were available when you couldn't buy Eastern Bloc guns in the US. It was a nice pistol. I had an all black P99 .40 cal, too. Sort of like a Glock, but really cool looking. I also miss the Combat Commander .45 I had.

My Grail gun- a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range...

sc_rufctr 07-03-2022 11:35 PM

"Had?" - What made you sell the P99?

Steve Carlton 07-03-2022 11:39 PM

I needed money a few years ago and sold everything except the 20 gauge Browning Citori my grandfather gave me. I wasn't shooting anymore, too. I should have tapped into my 401k instead, though. The guy I sold the Beretta to called me about a year ago wanting to know if I had trouble with it jamming. I never did, and offered to buy it back from him. Never heard from him again. I'm sure I could track one down used, but it's not a priority.

Is that the setup to get? About how much would it run? I use the CZ as my home protection unit.

CZ85, much the same as a CZ75. I can't believe I sold it, I loved that gun.

In practical terms i'll take a 365 but for joy of operation it sure is tough to beat the metal frame models. No plans to give up my 225A1

I would have taken that P220ST off your hands.

BTW, the guy I bought the nickel P226 from is also selling a nickel P225. I'm just not a single stack 9mm guy.

Going to have some folks over for a range day this afternoon. I am moving to an all 9mm pistol fleet with the exception of my Dad's .45 he carried in Korea and Vietnam.

The below is a Belgium Hi Power I carried when necessary while flying. It rested in my SV-2 and the ship(s) gunners always treated it well. It is my desk gun now.

Getting it ready for later today.

I had seen an ad for a West German Sig 226 that a guy was selling. He was moving to Brazil and had bought it during the Rodney King riots and never fired it. We talked, told him I wanted to buy it but I couldn't break away from set. I arranged to meet him the next day at the local gun shop.

Well, called the next morning to set up a time and he was already at the shop with another buyer. Opportunity missed, first with cash wins I guess.

So I ended up picking up a new Sig 226 Nitron. Handles very nice:

It's a great companion to my 229 SAS with the DAK trigger system, although I wish this one had a de cocker....

I have that one too, but in .357SIG. I was at the SHOT show years ago when Robar was exhibiting there and handing out 50% off coupons. They were 10 min from my house then. So I took the P226 to them for full NP3 refinishing. It's my nightstand gun and I have a laser/light on the rail.

I have a 357 Sig barrel for the 229 which is also 40 SW.

I'm no authority, but in my humble opinion, yes. I have my compact set up for night time use. Viridian lights and laser, with Trijicon RMR. The Viridian C5 series comes with a TacLoc holster. It activates the laser and tac light when you draw. This is my XDM. The red dot is for target acquisition with both eyes open. Much better threat tracking with two eyes. Of course, you must train to use it. Train as much as you can.

I can't count how many people I've seen at the range with lasers on their guns and who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Lasers do absolutely nothing for people who 1) don't train with them, 2) yank the trigger and 3) do not have a total control of their flinch reflex.

When I was at the range yesterday, the guy next to me was shooting an SBR/AR in 5.56. Geezus, that was loud and with some concussion. But it's excellent training for controlling the flinch, which I'm normally excellent at. But with rifle fire 2' from me, it's better training.

Most people are crappy shooters. That's absolutely true. Add stress to it, and you'll never hit anything. That's why in each thread I say you must train as much as possible. Even practice your draw. Practice dry firing. Massad Ayoob (sp?) has some pretty good advice on gripping the pistol. So does the Humble Marksman on YouTube. No point in aiming if your grip is no good.

A great shooting 22 with arguably one of the best triggers ever put in a pistol! It even beats out the trigger pull in my Colt Woodsman second model Match Target! The mags are the highest quality pistol magazine I have ever seen!

For $125 I couldn't turn it down.... CVA Lynx in .54.

Just need to order more stuff and hunt down some caps (I have some #10s for my pistol but it needs #11s)
