PC not seeing my iphone SE
When my iphone 6 finally gave up I replaced it with an SE. My PC desktop won't connect to it so I can't transfer photos as I did with the 6. Online help says to download a new version of iTunes. WTF?

Make sure your phone is "shared" to your PC.

You will need the latest version of iTunes, one of the worst bits of software ever written. When you plug in your phone, be sure it is awake, and it will ask if you want to share with the computer. Your computer may ask the same thing. Finding the photos is easy enough, but they are in random numbering not just numerical order that would make sense. iTunes just sucks.

Since I'm new to the iPhone, you mean I can't just plug in, select the phone, go to pics, then copy and paste to a folder?

The second you connect the phone to the computer, your phone should ask if it should trust the computer. You have to say yes, or it will never connect. On my Window 11 it asks if it should trust the phone. So they can do a circle jerk of trust and then you see a new drive appear on the list of hard drives. It will show a folder called Internal Storage, inside that is a DCIM folder. Then depending on how many photos you have you will see several folders with a date like name like 202207_ Sometimes the photos are in a logical date referenced folder. Other times it just puts them in a random folder. Finding a particular photo from a while back is a pain. I just copy everything, to my computer, and sort it there.
iTunes really really sucks. |
