Decent chance you are both seeing the Bronco Sport, which is a slightly smaller model and does not look anything like an offroader as the actual Bronco does.

The sport is in much greater supply as well.

This.

I believe the Sport is based on a modified Escape platform.

There must be some method to this madness as the very small town dealer 4 blocks away has had 10+ different "big" Bronco's on the lot and there are 3 or 4 running around town. Is it possible that each dealer was given a delivery allotment without regard to size or volume history?

This is the Bronco. The far more capable version that is comparable to Jeep Wrangler.

This is the Sport. Far less capable.

It's possible that dealer built a strong Bronco allocation based on previous sales, although they would have had to have been non-Broncos. The allocation may have been based on strong sales of other models that factored into their Bronco allocation. Maybe they had a disproportionate number of pre-orders (legit or perhaps otherwise). Maybe the production manager (or whoever has authority over allocations) treated them favorably. Maybe it's a new Ford dealer and this is part of a "honeymoon allocation."

Any of that is possible except the honeymoon as the dealership has been there for over 50 years. I like seeing things that are different and Broncos (in anything but the most basic trim) are still new and rare enough to qualify in this sea of boring and rusted out pickups, Impalas, Fusions and low end Chrysler stuff. Any trip to Mpls/St. Paul is a treat just for seeing unusual (to me) cars. Saw this color on a 4 door riding a car hauler Monday and thought it looked terrific.

I've been seeing a ton of them on 32nd street with hard tops.

DRONE 07-29-2022 03:55 PM

Crusty, seems like they are starting to pop up around town, saw a couple in the PB / MB area today, hopefully ours will appear soon

A news article today in the WSJ said that some of the 2.7 engines have a self-destruct issue. When at highway speed the valves somehow hit the pistons causing it to lock up.

They are cropping up left and right here, including the neighbor. Not a fan of the 4 door - too long and bloated looking to do any good off-road. Of course, most of these just are driven to the mall around here. I got excited when it came out and was going to order a stripper manual with the Sasquatch package. But then that wasn't going to be available for the first year. I since upgraded to a serious pickup and spent my off-road dollars on that.

Is the Sasquatch stripper manual even in sight now?

^^^Sounds like a strip club in Anchorage…but I digress.

As my dad would say.

"Better than a kick in the teeth."
