Sacramento Republic FC v Sporting Kansas City Tied at nil end of regulation time, 5-4 on penalty kicks, goalie save won it, most exciting Some sort of invitational tournament, Lamar Hunt Cup I think. Sacramento has beaten MLS teams from KC and San Jose in this deal

Lamar Hunt Cup is a nationwide competition including all levels of soccer under the umbrella of the USSF. So, MLS, USFL, etc. It's similar to the English FA Cup which includes teams all of the way down to amateur small town teams.
Most MLS teams don't field their A team, while lower level teams like Sacramento use it as a showpiece for their teams on a big national scale.

Wembley stadium sold out (87,192 seats) for the 2022 Women's Euro championship (England vs. Germany) earlier today.
It was broadcast on ESPN. I wonder about the viewership ratings, but the numbers aren't available yet. Good match. The German women's team had never lost a final, nor a match played in England, until today. 0-0 hard fought 1st half, both teams scored in the 2nd half (62' & 79'), and England won it in extra time. |

World Cup in a few months in the winter will be a change. Not a fan of Qatar hosting. What are they going to do with all the new stadiums once the tournament is over? Such a waste.

Not much of a fan so i ask...has the sport been cleaned up wrt the diving and embellishment? | hated watching guys flop down, roll around, get carried off and then run right back into the match.
I used to enjoy watching the US womens team until you know who started yapping.

I don't know about the US MLS, but Premier League (England & Wales) refs are now abiding by the new rules to ignore the exaggerated falling & feigned injuries, and giving warnings & penalties for "acting".
This is similar to the NBA refs last season trying (only somewhat successfully, IMHO) to ignore "floppage" in players' efforts to draw fouls. Based on my observations, the Italian league is more resistant to significantly change their long-standing tradition of anguished writhing and amazing recoveries from minor (or no) situational contact.
