What is your threshold for passing on the right?

How long does someone have to be parked in the fast lane before you just give up and zip by on the right?

look 171 08-02-2022 05:23 PM

less then 2 seconds

Tobra 08-02-2022 05:33 PM

lower than it ought to be

I won't pass a big truck on the right

Eric Hahl 08-02-2022 05:34 PM

Higher on 4 wheels than 2, um, er, maybe one.

I may even plan ahead so that I'm not even delayed.

I've looked at the traffic laws for TX. As far as I can tell, on a multilane road, it's not illegal to pass on the right. It's illegal to pass on the right on the shoulder, but not in a lane.

I would never, because I don't want to incite others, but I fantasize about having a scrolling sign in my back window that says

"slower traffic keep right"

Then after a few seconds it would change to

"No, your other right"

but like I said, I just wait and then pass when possible/safe.

Same here, I end up passing more on the right versus the left.

Meanwhile when I was driving in TN yesterday I spotted a Trooper get behind a left lane camper and lit them up to move to the right :-)

red-beard 08-02-2022 05:56 PM

Houston has the worst drivers. I have wanted it to be New York, New Jersey or California. But it is Houston...

stevej37 08-02-2022 06:29 PM

Rarely see one around here...if there is, there is usually plenty of space to pass.

crb07 08-02-2022 07:17 PM

At home in south Florida just seconds as nobody gets over, the left is where slow drivers go to enjoy the drive.
Most other areas I’m fairly patient.

stomachmonkey 08-02-2022 07:47 PM

In TX if you want to get anywhere you have no choice.

The really frustrating thing is the far right lane is almost always mostly clear but you still can't get anywhere because you'll run up on some cock blocking twat waffle that's making a right turn at .5 MPH.

I'm a firm believer in the high beams, light em up like the Rockefeller Xmas tree and they usually move.

Well yeah, hard to make quota on speeders when you have Joe Citizen acting like a rolling road block.

Putting on your left blinker is what is supposed to send them the message but of course that's asking way too much from these geniuses....

Have you driven in the SF/Bay Area?

Turn signals are illegal in TX.

I pass on the right legit lane (not on shoulder, never) something like 80% more then I do on their left. 99.999999% of the time, I fly up and go around into the right hand lane, gone within seconds and don't even let off the gas. I rarely sit behind a left lane camper unless there's heavier traffic where there's no choice but to sit. Even then, I am out first chance I get. Around here, traffic is so thick, everyone passes everywhere when ever there's an open lane.

That's if the tunnel vision driver sees your hi beams. I did that to a 50 in a 65 zone driver the other day. He was ferocious, waving his hands telling me to go screaming something behind his closed windows. Some people have no business driving and they don't know the laws they are to obey by.

MOst people on the road have no idea what means. What do you think this is, the Autobahn?

look 171 08-02-2022 08:18 PM

Seriously, how many time have you flips your light and the person even notices? For us out here, its less then 1/4 of the people even notices. Weather they move is another story.

craigster59 08-02-2022 08:25 PM

Twin turbo 3.5 Ecoboost makes an F150 act like an Audi S4 when you need it.

Unfortunately the offender still tends to noodle along like Mister Magoo, completely oblivious to the blockage behind them and the carnage that could develop from people trying to just get around them.

Arizona_928 08-02-2022 08:30 PM

I'll usually let the semi move over to the right and not be a dick and pass them on the right.

Cars and other tards. You know when they're not gonna move over.
