Jimmie Johnson ends full time racing
I think this is smart on his part . Drive selective races/series and enjoy family and life .

He couldn't get the swing on the road courses but ran well within the top 10 on ovals. I agree its time, he can dabble.

Robby Gordon has a truck series. I'll bet JJ would have fun with that, getting him back to his roots. He's also contemplating doing the Indy 500/ Coke 600 double.
It's good that he's giving up a good full time Indy seat for a young talent, but I admire him for not just giving up. I'm sure he was just as frustrated as his fans back there in the cheap seats race after race....

Ran into him a few years ago.
His fitness regime must have been intense. Take away the racing suit and he'd play well the part of coliseum champion. |

He is eligible for the NASCAR All Star Race at North Wilkesboro next year.

Johnson was always at the back of the pack but the announcers talked about him more than folks running mid pack. He all hat no cattle right from the start. To make matters worse, every other commercial was for 'Car vandals'

. JJ didn't win all those races and championships without having a cow.... with horns tho' . Good for him.... his records stand on their own merit imo.... one of the best..... ever. I thought I'd never attend another race.... but would consider North Wilksboro one more time .... throwback to the good ol' daze. |

While Jimmy was impressive until the changed the race format (i.e. stages). He struggled mightily for a couple years. His move to Indycar was just plain silly. It has been done before, Indycar to Nascar/Nascar to Indycar, and the results just never pan out for any of the drivers. (Patrick, Montoya, Franchitti, Villenueve, etc).
James Hinchcliffe :"I would love to give it a try," IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe said recently. "I'm a racer, man. Put me in anything with an engine and four wheels. But for me, watching some of the most successful open-wheel guys make that transition and struggle, clearly it's a huge challenge. It was an experiment doomed to failure. While I feel bad for Jimmy, because I cheered him on in his Nascar days, he just didn't have the spark anymore.

Crashcar and Indy are two totally different cars. You need different skill sets.
