I do think 'suck it up buttercup' is underutilized these days but I also think that is a destructive thing to say to folks with real chemical imbalances or developmental problems.

my sister started her career in probation some 30 years ago in the juvenile division warned of that the timeout/participation trophy generation was coming. she was not dealing with any "snowflakes" i'd imagine, but there were plenty being made up at home handing timeouts to their lil monsters.

Are you the guy in those YouTube videos bellyaching about how people won't watch your video?

Seriously, is that you?

God damn, you need to mature a bit before you should be allowed to post in this forum of old ass baby boomers.

You don't belong here.

Save it Bob. Who put you in charge? Was that suppose to be in green font?

Just listened to a podcast this afternoon about the prevalence of meth and fentanyl that's washed over every corner of our city. Scary stuff. These drugs are apparently responsible for an enormous part of the mental health crisis in our country, and there are very few solutions right now to deal with the crisis.

Stay out of the drug dens, kids.

I unfortunately dabbled in meth in my early 30's for a few years. I truly believe it's a factor in the bouts of depression I've experienced since. I was not tweaking for days at a time keeping things on track with a new career and "functioning" with weekend use. It changed me completely even after leaving it behind being more withdrawn, not wanting to get out with friends as much, took greater levels for my adrenalin to get up and depression.

ive been on meds and off for 15 years and have seen a number of therapists over the years, some good, some could not give two sheets cause i had good insurance. all quick to offer up the pills, that I admit have helped from time to time.

I'm in a good place now having moved from the city to the sierras and retired. heck, I don't even smoke as much weed anymore cause it's so strong I don't like being that high.

great thread, thanks for the read.

Can what you eat help attention, focus, or hyperactivity? There's no clear scientific evidence that ADHD is caused by diet or nutritional problems. But certain foods may play at least some role in affecting symptoms in a small group of people, research suggests..........................

Based on this and other recent studies, the American Academy of Pediatrics now agrees that eliminating preservatives and food colorings from the diet is a reasonable option for children with ADHD. Some experts recommend that people with ADHD avoid these substances:

Artificial colors, especially red and yellow
Food additives such as aspartame, MSG (monosodium glutamate), and nitrites. Some studies have linked hyperactivity to the preservative sodium benzoate.
