Toyota bZ4X Hub Bolt Issues

Toyota Recalls 2,700 Units of bZ4X Worldwide Because Hub Bolts Could Go Loose.
Anyone read of a root cause for this?
My guess would be too much flexing in the hub or wheel. I can't believe they didn't get torqued correctly or the bolts might give up.

The difference between a customer service campaign and a recall is when Toyota feels its far worse than the vehicle owner thinks it is. Or in this case has no clue as to what is causing the lug bolt failure. Toyota will manage it and keep as quiet as possible since this is a new model. Great opportunity to have the manufacturer cover some payments for the customer. Not the first time they have done it and won't be the last. In the end they want happy customers. Toyota is an entry level car to move up to Lexus at some point. I think they make great cars and they are not immune to defects.

Really sad when the recall also affects its sister car Subaru that has not even gone on sale yet.

My guess would be:
1) At the assembly line level. Under or over torqued hardware. Mis-calibrated tools.
2) Metallurgy issues with the lug bolts.
3) Hubs not heat treated correctly.

They do mention driving habits/patterns. That could mean anything. (hit a curb and wheel became an airplane)???

Thanks for the link to that report.
It seems they were able to reproduce bolts getting loose using some type of severe driving after torqueing to spec. I hope we eventually find out what the cause is.
