Dang Bees!
 

A beautiful summer day here. Sitting on my deck streaming a movie with an ice cold mug of beer....I took a sip and just as I looked down into the mug, I noticed a yellow jacket.
He got me good right on the upper lip and now the lip is about twice the normal size!:eek:

How long does it take for the swelling to go away?

Yellow jackets love human food....and will fight you for it!

I don't know how long the botox injection will last.

Now, I can't finish the glass of beer without slobbering it down my chin. :mad:

Although outlawed here in Oregon, a straw might help you...

^^^ That might be best. The swelling has spread to almost the entire upper lip now.

(Sidenote, yellowjackets and wasps ain't bees! Bees are good!)

Yeah...I always call them bees. Everyone in my family has the same results.

The hot sun (like today) seems to make them extra offensive.

They're all over the place where we live. We even placed nest decoys around the property to discourage them from building too close to the house. I caught one in the top of the knee a few weeks ago and the initial hit felt like I had been touched with a hot poker for a second or two!

Relax Steve. It's very trendy these days. People pay a lot of money for lip fillers and you got it for free.

Truth be told, I'd probably die if a bee stung me there. allergic :(

Take a couple benadryls. Should clear it up fast.

So...what kind of beer do 'wasps' not like?
Am I going to have to change to a 'lite' beer???

If the swelling isn't gone by morning...I'll get some benadryl.

Doesn't putting ice on it down also help?

^^^ It might, but being on the upper lip it would be hard to keep it there unless lying on my back.
The whole upper lip feels like I had a Novocain injection in it....other than that, no pain at all.

I posted a couple months ago about the yellow jacket nest in my wall. The whole nest came after me when I inadvertently exposed it. One got me behind my knee. Hurt for a couple days but then started itching. Swelling lasted days.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661115617.jpg

^^^ They pack a punch...for a small insect.

From what I read…. They grab with their mandibles and repeatedly sting. Their stingers don’t disengage from their bodies.

^^^ considering what they can do to an adult human....the other insects and small animals are prob in mortal danger
from them.

Swelling has gone down considerably now....and the feeling has returned to the upper lip.

A sippy cup it will be tomorrow!

Any antihistamine, the sooner the better. I got hit by yellow jackets 3 times in a couple of seconds when I hit their nest while trimming under the pasture fences.
I couldn't get my ring off for about 10 days. The good news was my watch strap wasn't loose.
