above ground insect tunnels in grass
While walking around the yard today, I saw an area where there were above ground tubes/tunnels made of soil. They were no where near the house, and seemed to in many cases follow blades of grass and plant matter, and they were patchy over a large area. They reminded me a little bit of the tubes that you would see if you had termites. I broke some open and didn't see anything alive inside.
I wouldnt' have thought that subterranean termites would go to the trouble of making tubes when moving around. Any thoughts on what these were made by? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661729972.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661729972.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661729972.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661729972.JPG |

Don't know, termite maybe?

A local county ag agency might know...might want to check there.

It seems that there is a species of termite that does this, but I wouldn't have thought they would be in this area. They are desert termites, and mostly in West Texas. Certainly, this year would qualify this area. I'm guessing it's some species of termite, whether it's the desert termite or something else.

^^^ Yes...I have used the one in my area a few times. (county ag office) They really like to help with weed or insect control.
