LAX Airport Parking Suggestions
Need to leave my car at LAX for 2 weeks: any tips on good long-term parking experiences, please?
Haven’t been in a couple of years: the last place I used was one of those valet services, where you take your own car directly to the terminal and someone drives it back to the parking lot for you (presumably a residential street in Compton). |

City managed Lot "C" is for long term parking

I'd look at the Sheraton or another local hotel, park there, take their shuttle. I use Parking Spot, but usually get reimbursed and accrue points. Gonna be expensive regardless

I like the Marriott. It's outdoors, but it's reliable, not too far away from the airport, and the shuttles are reasonably frequent. The Hilton is underground. Like 5 or 6 levels down. The Spectrum (next to the Hilton) was terrible. The shuttles ran infrequently and were always already fully loaded. There's a reason why that's the cheapest option.

Whatever you do, do not park at those smaller lots that advertise long term parking on the side of the big blvd. Those guys will go through your stuff. They have your key, so its a free for all and they know you wouldn't be around for a few days. Happened to a friend. They took 20 out of his $50 emergency money, Phone charger and a flash light. Idiots

Years ago when I was looking into park and rides, at least one of them wanted your address too... why? No way I was going to let someone at a parking business know that I was out of town for x amount of days and here’s where I live!

Yes and it costs less to reserve in advance. It also has a plate reader which sometimes works, when it works its very convenient as you pull up and the gate automatically opens. Otherwise it uses a QR code from your phone.

It has been five years or so, but I used Hilton since I was able to get points:

Have you priced a rental car each way?

Park on a side street somewhere in Compton and take a taxi to the airport. should be fine.

It's free to park a motorcycle at LAX. You're actually told to just ride around the parking gate arms and park in any reasonable space that a car wouldn't be able to use.

Thanks all. I ended up reserving the official LAX long-term "economy" parking lot.
The suggestion to do one-way car rentals was an interesting one, but it was significantly more expensive than even the $18/day charge at the airport. Plus we have child seats we need to use etc. |

Overall, we had a good experience at this lot. It's a nice, new, clean, covered lot. The shuttles were very frequent and I felt safe leaving our vehicle there. I'm grateful for the recommendation.
The only part that pissed me off: when we returned to our car, after 2 weeks, our battery was flat - no problem, I'll get a AAA jump-start... A kid turns up in his AAA truck within 30 mins and then explains on the phone that the last time he came to help someone parked here, they charged him for a full day's parking just to enter the structure (which he could not get reimbursed for by AAA). So I speak to an employee and they're happy to let me know that now it's only a bargain $6 for them to welcome AAA in to help their customer. I genuinely believe they felt they were doing me a favor. |

Honestly, they have a set fee for AAA drivers? Must happen a lot.

I don’t think it’s a special fee for AAA, but rather the minimum charge for being in the lot (presumably the hourly cost).
