No-salt water conditioner/descaler/softener

Anyone have one of the "no-salt" softeners?

I don't believe the no-salt softeners actually soften (remove the mineral) from the water. My understanding is that the change them so that they don't deposit as scale.

I believe, to actually remove the minerals, you HAVE to use salt. That's fine.

Does anyone have one of the no-salt conditioners/descalers, and how does it work?

I have been installation them for some times now. I have no knowledge of what other companies do with theirs, since I only install Lifesource's products because they are still made here in Pasadena CA, about 6 miles from my home. I always believe their QC is stringent because that's something we ingest daily so its not worth taking a chance with other's products that are made in other countries.

They have a system that can suspend the minerals in the pipes so it comes out of the faucet. Yet, little of the deposit is still there but they do not dry hard like typical water calcification. It can be wiped away with a soft rag without scrubbing. I have not heard any complains about it from any of my clients so far. Its been 10 years since the first one. This person is moving and they like it so much that they are asking me to have a new system installed in their new home. GEt the whole house filter at least. the secondary filter or softener is more of a scale filter, IMO.

We had a Lifesource system in our SoCal home before we moved to Florida.

We had one installed shortly after we moved to Florida. Its been five and a half years and no issues.

I have a citric acid filter in my garage. Just upgraded it to a larger capacity version, as it only needs one new cartridge per year, which will pay for the system in about 2.5 yrs vs the old smaller one that needed a new cartridge twice per year. It's from NuvoH2O.

So I guess they work well then?

I looked up the "lifesource." They are huge, but then it sounds like they last a VERY long time.

Most people just leave then in garage or side of house, Steve. Because I am anal about appearance, we buried the tanks in the ground so only the valves and other necessary items needed for maintenance are shown. You must have electrical plug near by for the system to bleed the tiny bit of water along with the minerals. I am sure you have a rep out there in Texas. Call them for more info. Depending on the size, most last about ten years without doing much to them. Maintenance free basically.

Wow, buried. I'd have never thought that was a thing. Thanks!

Garage
My sister has a system that produces distilled water for the whole house because her husband has an intolerance to something or other. I can ask what system it is. It does make the water out of the fridge come out in spurts instead of a stream which I thought was weird.
