Earthquake 5.9 Eastern NV 08:06

Knocked pictures off the wall 100 miles away in Carmichael. Dog started freaking out about a minute before it happened.

I'm pretty sure I was sitting right here at the time. Didn't feel anything this far south. Anything close to 6 is a shaker. I don't care for the scale as it is difficult for folks to understand the multiplying.

Been a bunch out west here the last couple months....

I was in the So Bay during the Loma Prieta quake in 89 and it was terrifying.... Ever since when it starts shaking I get to panic pretty quickly.

Iwas in SF in 1989, that was a heck of a thing. I have photos somewhere of the Goodyear blimp over the Golden Gate Bridge looking orange from all the smoke from the fires in the Marin at sunset. I rode my bicycle on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge the day after

Turns out there was no earthquake. The ShakeAlert system sent out a false report. It was later deleted from the MyShake app.

I'll bet it was the Shake Shack girls fighting again.

I was working with the Ca. Dept. of Forestry and Fire protection at the time (now CALFIRE) as a seasonal firefighter and was stationed down on Hwy 25 south of Hollister, just north of the Pinnacles State Park. The San Andreas fault runs pretty much along Hwy 25 down that way so after the quake a few of us walked across the highway and into a field where the fault ran. There was a clear demarcation of where the fault was, and you could clearly see where it had moved a couple of feet from the quake due to soil displacement.

Spent 3 summers there in barracks and engine house that were really old cinder block buildings. Whenever there were quakes we were ordered to park the two engines outside for a week or two so if a big one hit the rigs would not be affected.... We, the staff still had to sleep in the old block building.... We were replaceable....
