I don't think we seen where you do computer stuff?
Lets see where you get work, play, ETC done in the digital world. I had to build up a new PC a few weeks ago as the BSOD was showing up several times a day so I gave it to my grandson. The new one with the LEDs that change color (his idea) is on the right with 64GB RAM, Intel I9 12900 CPU and just to the right of the 50 inch Visio flat screen are 4 total 8TB hard drives where I am digitizing my racing tapes, both bicycle and vintage race car and the little pink fan keeps them cool. As you can see the area under the desk is dark, so I put a LED light fixture which keeps me from having to hold a flashlight when cleaning back there, off now.

Fairly boring and small office at work. Two big azz monitors.
Cluttered and disarray at home, because we are undergoing renovation and the kitchen is in my office at the moment, but two big azz monitors there plus reloading set up, spoon cleaning stuff, and a few other things. |
When I worked in the office, I had a desktop with 4 23" monitors. 4 was probably overkill, but I filled them up. Now that I'm working from home, I have a 27" iMac so one monitor. Having 2 monitors would be better for work, but since the one is 27", I have most of the windows laid out so that they are nearly, but not quite, full-screen, and then have them oriented towards various corners of the screen, so I can quickly pick the window that I need out.
With the iMac and it's virtual screens (or whatever they are called) I actually have 3 "desktops" that I can very quickly switch between (and do frequently). I don't normally need to see multiple screens simultaneously. Having the "all-in-one" workstation helps keep clutter to a minimum. I have an Apple magic touchpad instead of a mouse. For many, many years, I'd been using various trackballs instead of mice. I love the touchpad. I also have an unusual keyboard and use the dvorak key layout instead of qwerty. |

That looks awful! I don't know how you work in those conditions. |
I built my system a couple of years ago.
i9-9960X CPU at 3.10 GHz 256 Gig of RAM Win 11 Pro A GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and a GeForce RXT 2070 both. 2 different 2 TB M.2 drives, one for boot, one for "work" projects Built in 16 TB RAID 5 for long term storage. With the color laser printer on my desk my main monitor is just a 21 inch at 3840x2160 native resolution. My second monitor is smaller and just 1600x900 and that is all the room I have on my desk. Well, I have a second computer that is 10 years old. I only turn it on for some projects that one old software package is really helpful. It is a Win10 machine and just an old i5, slow and steady. And I do have a Microsoft Surface for travel. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663854974.jpg My office desk. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663854974.jpg Mighty Thor |

Cleaned up the office yesterday slightly and switched some things around to make sense and a better working area. I freaking hate paperwork even though it is a primary fact of life. Need that 'good boy cookie' to even look at it.
Have a couple old WinXP-era computers (think VGA to DVI-I adapters) from deceased relatives taking up space. Decided to try them out. First step was blowing dust out of the internals outside. Dusty clogged CPU heat sinks with no airflow. I eliminated the KVM gismo for using two computers with one monitor/keyboard/mouse. 1). One produces a black screen. There is a slot on the MB which I think should have a video card. 2). The other freezes at the boot screen. Even changing the boot priority and using a fresh official sealed Windows XP CD did not change that. Maybe the CMOS battery or HD causes that. IDK. There was clicking sounds from inside. The HD platter bearings may be stuck from sitting so long. I might tap on it and/or freeze. Or hammer the drive and throw it in the electronics recycle pile. Strike two of two attempts. Nothing lost. Nothing gained. |

This is where I spend way too much time lately. ACER i7 8700 AMD Radeon RX580X w/4GB GDDRV 1 TB HD [might be another in there, I forget if I put one in or not] 32GB RAM Lenovo ThinkVison monitor And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my Secret Labs chair. Best seat in the house IMO. |

It's probably no great surprise to anyone, but this has come up before.
