Yeah, what a pompous ass, this Hans Keller. "I don't want to prejudice you..." and then proceeds to tear them down, telling us "perhaps I'm too much of a musician to fully appreciate them"...
Well, Herr Keller, no one remembers who the fk you were, nor cares. We all miss Syd terribly. The band he engendered went on to be one of the greatest in history. "But they have an audience, and people who have an audience aught to be heard"... Indeed... I have everything Syd Barrett ever recorded. Pink Floyd's first album, and the only one recorded in its entirety with Syd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn. A Saucerful of Secrets was next, but only features Syd in one song, Jugband Blues. He was pretty much ejected from the band after that, but did go on to record two solo works, Madcap Laughs and Barrett with help from a couple of his friends still in the band. You can just hear him crying out in those works, desperately trying to cling to some semblance of reality. Beautiful music, but knowing where he was at that time, almost painful to listen to. "Wouldn't you miss me, wouldn't you miss me at all?"... From there, I have a bunch of studio out takes, some live BBC solo stuff, and other scraps. His decline is painfully apparent as these progress. What a terribly sad story, from the bright and promising young man interviewed by Herr Keller, to this. And it only got worse: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/z3_x0p26gWU" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

After years of looking, I just scored a mint copy of "A Nice Pair" the other day.

Kind of a "deep dive", and maybe a bit much for some. Their early days in the London clubs. Keep in mind, this was when the Beatles still wanted to "hold your hand", and the Stones couldn't "get no satisfaction".

First song I learned on my Stat. Easy to play. Careful with that slide Eugene.
