Fat Bear Week
Bears are in Katmai National Park, Alaska . It is an annual competition with several rounds of voting. 12 bears are in the bracket. Images are of the bears after they emerge from hibernation and then later in September after they have bulked up.
A requirement is that bear participants must fish the Brooks Falls area for salmon. One bear, 480 Otis, once caught and ate 42 salmon in one sitting. Each fish averaged about 5 lbs. He munched down over 100,000 calories and possibly 200,000 in one meal! Who is your favorite? https://explore.org/meet-the-bears Holly is my favorite. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665071015.jpg 909's Yearling won this year's Junior Competition and won a spot in the Big Bear Bracket. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665071015.jpg |
Of the two that you posted, I'm going with 909.

Funny thing about the salmon? When I was fishing the Russian River in Kenai, we say salmon carcasses floating down river. No head, no skin. The bears rip off the the head and skin and leave the meat. Sort of a Jack Sprat thing vs humans and salmon.

Brown bear 747, tipping the scales at an estimated 1,400lbs (635kg), won 68,105 votes, beating Bear 901 with 56,876 votes. The result marks an end to Fat Bear Week 2022, which saw people from around the world vote for the fattest bruin at Alaska's Katmai National Park. The chow down spotlights the park's famous brown bears as they feed in preparation for winter hibernation. "Ultimately, 747 ripped apart the salmon - and the competition - to seize his 2nd crown as the 2022 Champion," the park tweeted after Tuesday's vote. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665546265.jpg |
