So what is the right way to handle two guys breaking into your house with a handgun and a machete? :confused:

The right way to handle it would be to give
the mothers of the criminals several million dollars
in a lawsuit settlement to shut them the hell up.

It is hard to imagine a better way to handle it...unless it was for the mother to keep her evil little animal at home and teach him to behave versus making excuses for his behavior after the fact.

How would the mother (or anyone) handle two strange men they came upon in their dark back yard...one with a machete and the other a semi-auto handgun? Apparently, one also had a stolen airsoft gun they stole from another home that night (that would probably look like a long gun in the dark).

That was about the only way to handle the situation.

Police said that around 2 p.m. officers were called to reports of menacing and trespass when they found two juvenile males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital where they later died.

I think they should charge the parents with assesory to a crime for raising the little bastards. Much the same way they charge gun manufacturers after a shooting.

I don't currently own a gun but stories like this and stuff happening locally have me thinking of attending some training and getting one. I feel no sympathy other than for the homeowner who had to go through this.

I quite like pit bulls and starving them to make them attack seems cruel. Alligators otoh would do the job and in wouldn’t feel one bit bad.

Perfect way to handle it. Kill the armed thiefs. Eliminate them from the gene pool.

There's a difference between poor judgement and armed robbery/burgulary.

If you do serious deeds, there may be serious consequences.

If 2 people break into your property with a machette and a gun, you have to assume that they are dangerous, potentially deadly.

I've been saying this for years. Until parents are held responsible, they will make excuses for bad behavior.

Based on what I read, the kids had a gun (non-airsoft) and a machette and then stole an additional gun (the airsoft) earlier that night. The article was written such that it could have been a little confusing if you didn't read the whole thing or were just skimming it.

Eh...an airsoft generally looks like a real gun in the daylight as well...and they were shooting at the homeowner with a real semiauto. I suspect that most people would not hesitate to shoot someone attacking them with just the machete. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

They thought they might be going to a knife fight, and they had at a machete, but in case it escalated they also brought the gun. The airsoft was just in case it was in that weird grey area between a knife and a gun fight;

Why are you so for the folks that illegally invaded a person's home with an illegal weapon and so against the person that legally defended themselves with an apparently legal gun? It/you make so little sense.

Even a kid (in this case a 16-year-old), can kill you with a machete or a semiauto. Of course, the airsoft probably was like most (designed to look like the real thing).

Yep...just some innocent children playing "Purge" when some evil homeowner spoiled their fun by refusing to play along.

A tragic ending.
But it's the teens who decided there would be violence.
The homeowner was put in a very unfortunate position, and acted properly.

Is walking around with a machete becoming more popular these days? I think there were three separate attacks in Vancouver recently where machete was weapon of choice, is this from video game training?

Police need to take looters into custody... (for their own protection).

Airsoft, machete, pen knife. Doesn't matter. Unfortunate situation, proper outcome.

If you're fast enough, a machete can be used to block bullets.

I use a Swiss Army knife for rounds up to 9mm... a machete for .357 & larger.

I hear a buck 110 will also work in place of the SAK.
