Are there quiet clothes washers?
I've never heard a quiet clothes washer. Do they exist? I assume that the spin cycle makes it unlikely for a washer to ever be quiet unless they start adding lots of weight to them.

Just had a couple of new Speed Queens (top load washer and front load dryer) installed today and they're pretty quiet. They're in a wide closet which will quiet down further if I decide to install a thick bifold door.
Some of the over and under front loaders (LG's, etc.) are also pretty quiet. Again, if you can install these in a closet you've got more options for sound insulating doors. |

When I consider the amount of work the washer/dryer saves, me I don't mind the noise quite as much. Same with our overly loud 25 yr old dish washer.

Replaced my loud dish washer with a Bosch unit (nuthin' fancy) several years ago.... first thing I noticed was how quiet it was by comparison. |

About 20 years ago, we got a Kitchenaid dishwasher that was supposed to be something like 52db - 56db. You could turn it on while you were in the kitchen and have a hard time telling if it was running. It was pretty spectacular, especially as loud as some of them can be. I think these days, many/most are in the 40s and 50s decibals range which is quieter than a conversation. We did have some board in ours go out after ~10 years, I bought another board, I think it was ~$50, and easily installed it myself and it was back in business.

Very happy with LG stacked units-in a pantry but don't hear them outside of the pantry. They are crazy expensive at retail, like $2500 or so, but I got a crazy deal on mine at Lowes-a contractor had ordered 2 not realizing they were gas, and didn't pick them up, and the store blew 2 of them out for $550 each. Instantly grabbed one set and ordered an LP conversion...had to run the LP line but it was still a steal.

Speed Queen has traditionally made commercial washers and dryers. They started making home ones recently.
We recently bought a Whirlpool top loader. One of the new "high efficiency " ones. Totally sucks balls. Uses less water, but takes twice as long and doesn't clean the clothes well. Sometimes have to run through another cycle. Not even close to the 20yo Kemore we had to part with. .

The loudest noise my Kenmore makes is when the solenoid kicks in the spin cycle...otherwise it's quiet.

I have a Bosch Nexxt Premium. Front load. Cleans anything. I wouldn't say whisper quiet but it's certainly not loud, or even noticeable.
