Lots of rain lately....easy tunneling for moles.

Saw a ridge of lawn sod raised up this morning. Placed two traps..one at each end the tunnel. Half hour later...I see one showing it was tripped.

How big is that mole? Ours are the size of mice.

Send us some of the rain. You can keep the moles.

He measured 6 inches long and fat...about the largest that I've seen here.
The raised sod was easily seen, so I knew it was a bigger mole.

We also sometimes have 'star-nosed moles'...which are a larger type mole.
They don't leave ridges in the sod....just a cone of sand/dirt in one spot.
They are very hard to trap.

^^^ With those claws...it's no wonder they can tunnel so easy.

Garage
I seem to decapitate alot of them with the lawnmower. I tried to kill one once while it was tunneling and it was surprisingly difficult I couldnt get it

Years ago, I caught one by watching the topsoil shake as the mole was digging below it.
I took a shovel and started spearing with it and turned the mole out and killed it.

It's so easy now with the wire-tek mole traps. I have 5 of them and if I find a maze of raised sod, I place the traps at all the ends of the tunnels and nearly always get the sob within a few hours.
