Do your neighbors have nicknames?

Curious if other people have nicknames for their neighbors. Many of mine have real names but some don't. Garlic guy, Bret Michaels, Potpourri house, Crazy man, Watch my house Bob, New Bob, Drunk lady, Mr. neat, Karen, Mr. Frumpy, New Jersey people, Canadians, Hippie Guy, Help me house, The box lady, Dur (that is his real name) , Bump on my head Bob, Goofy, Crazy guy Bobby. Mr. Pesty, New Jesus Guy (Slowly being replaced with Gavin Rossdale)

Yes, ever since the guy across the street put his mailbox dead nuts center at the bottom of my Northern Michigan driveway that’s covered in ice 4 months out of every year.

He got even more nicknames when he replaced it in the exact same spot.

I try not to use nicknames too much in case I call Narg* C*** his nickname when I'm talking to him.

Noah930 10-13-2022 07:52 PM

You seem to have a lot of neighbors "named" Bob.

Hillbilly Jim, Spider Lady, Square Pants, Smarticus, and Bumble to name a few of the fun ones.

One of my neighbors works at the nearby hospital in their blood lab running the tests.

I call him "Blood", as in "Wa'Sup Blood?!"

Our loose Starbucks coffee group has Bicycle Steve (me), Budda Steve, Violin Steve and Shady Steve. Makes things easier when 6-8 of us get together and three conversations going at the same time.

Long gone, but the family behind us, through our thankfully well developed hedge, were affectionately know as "the Bundys". Married with Children. The dad was a roaring alcoholic long haul truck driver. When he was away, mom could be heard in the wee hours of the morning banging some random dude on the trampoline in the back yard.

The older son was a known thief, who one of my other neighbors once held at gunpoint while awaiting the arrival of the police after the kid had broken into his motorhome. For the umpteenth time.

The daughter was an adolescent slut with big boobs who loved to go braless in her dad's wife beaters. She propositioned me, and every other able bodied male in the neighborhood.

"Uncle Fester", Mr. Bundy's brother, lived in the back yard in a camp trailer and worked as a bouncer in a dive bar. Dead ringer for the guy on The Adams Family.

I wound up shooting their unleashed, unfenced, out of control pit bull mix who freely roamed the neighborhood, and had bitten several kids. That rather upset Mr. Bundy, who came over to kick my ass. This was way back when I was in my 30's, still fit, and still working out on the bags. I pounded his drunken ass like a tent stake, he wound up being arrested, and I secured a restraining order that kept him from even returning to his home.

It gets even weirder - in the end, we shook hands, and he came to consider me his best friend in the neighborhood. He wound up losing the house, as he was clearly in way over his head. I actually felt bad about that. Turned out to be a really nice guy, but just didn't have the tools to do much better than he did. Picked the wrong trailer trash wife, was gone too much to supervise her or her raising of the kids, so all of that became an ongoing disaster. I hope he was able to somehow escape all of that, even though, in the end, he is somewhat responsible at least for the miscreant kids. Still, I wish him well.

The son wound up convicted as an adult while a juvenile, and I have no idea what became of the daughter, beyond that she got knocked up by some kid before he left for boot camp. Hopefully he "did the right thing". The mom, I could not care less. She seemed to be the origin of all of their problems.

Oh yeah. "Drunkie". Car always has some new random dent. The husband did a 'remodel' on the garage. Installed this really nice modular wall system on the back wall. Pretty slick. Found out later that the wall had to be redone because his wife drove her car through the wall into the living room. No contractors came. He quietly fixed the entire thing himself.

I'll bet everyone reading this who lives in an urban environment has at least one Karen in their neighborhood. I know I certainly do

We had a neighbor that had a few pre- teens that were always getting in trouble so we called them "The Heathens".. About a year later we realized that my my young daughter had been calling them that to their faces because we said it so much that she thought it was their real last name. I have never laughed so hard!! LOL.!

Six houses on my street besides mine;
Crazy lady
Baked
Speed Racer
The Boys
Steve
new neighbors, no nick name yet.

The first year we were married, we called the guy in the apartment above us "Stumble Bum". He couldn't seem to get from the bedroom to the kitchen without running into something or making as much noise as a stampede of elephants. Forty six years later, if I mention the name, Mrs. oldE knows exactly who I mean.

We don't have neighbours that interesting these days, but I think our neighbours do. ;)

Best
Les

Within a half mile of my place, I have a total of 2 neighbors.

One is a 86 year old lady that works out in her yard every day when the weather permits. Very friendly, nice lady. I hope I'm in as good shape as she is at her age.

The other neighbor is a 70 year old lady...she doesn't get out much.

So...no nicknames.

We live in a neighborhood where every house is on a 1 acre lot and there are only about 50 houses. I have spoken to most of my neighbors but have no idea anyone's names. So, yes, everyone has nicknames. We have the painter, the Jag guy (he has owned at least 4 in the last 15 years and has one from the 1930s), the Pella guy, the lawyer, etc. Honestly, only see the neighbors in passing and on Halloween when all the kids look for candy.

Naw.... I don't have any. All of neighbors do tho' .... there's one dude they call A-hole, but I've never met the guy :D.

My next door neighbor cuts his front yard on average once every 2 mts. His back yard, not in the past three years. His dock has fallen into the water. Shingles still missing from his roof from Ida over a year ago. We just call him Stupid.

To our right, middle-aged guy, now divorced not affectionately known as ........'Angry man'. Works in the public sector as likely no private business would hire him. Evenings / weekends always has a beer in hand, a cig in his yap. Always paranoid that someone is out to get him, cheat him, impregnate his now college age daughter.

First 2 years we never saw his wife, after several attempts to be neighborly invite them over for wine on our front porch. Then noticed how much time him / daughter spent together.....a little unhealthy if you ask me......creepy. at one point we speculated that the wife was dead, buried in their crawl space with some lime thrown on top to keep the smell down.

Eventually she did make an appearance, running out to me in my yard stating she's afraid of him, that he was physically and verbally abusive, and next time could she stay with us? Um......no, call the poplice.

She left @year ago, or he did actually kill her? Daughter left for college, he's now king of all that he Surveys, with nothing but beer and cigarettes to keep him warm. A few months back he come over on my property as I was mowing, got in my face saying I was blowing grass clippings on his property ( I was not) and threatened me.

I stated clearly I was not, I was well on my property side. He was half-lit at the time said he saw evidence on one of his many security cameras. This same incident happened again @ month later. I shut down my mower, got off and said 'get back on your property, I'm not blowing grass clippings on your property, and I'm done with this stupid conversation, if you ever threaten me or step on my property again, I'm calling the police and will get a restraining order.
