Clock Work
The clock in my 78 SC has been not keeping the correct time for about 5 years now.
I decided to finally get it fixed. A friend mentioned NSI Instruments in Greensboro, NC Last Friday, I mailed it in to them and they received it Tues. Today, the business manager called and said it was bad caps and a partially broken ground wire. They are shipping it back today. Extremely fast service. (2 days) Very nice business. They do all gauges. |
Clock arrived here this afternoon. Looks like a brand new one.
Tomorrow I'll re-install it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1666470986.jpg |

When I test drove my 82SC in 2012, I noticed that the clock actually worked and kept time. As silly as it sounds, that was a huge factor in my decision to buy the car!

Nicely done Steve! |
Thanks!
A person doesn't realize how much they use a car clock.....and then when it's not keeping good time it's really noticeable! |
I've used NSI before. They are great.

When I made the initial call to find out if they would fix it, the guy asked me to check the voltage at the battery and at the clock terminal. We were on the phone the whole time and it took 10 minutes or more for me to get the voltmeter and get a clear path to the battery and clock terminal.
After doing that, I realized that it was a good move. The problem could have been other than the clock and it would have been a waste of time/money to send it in. Some places would have just said..."send it in" |
S'cuze my ignorance,
but what's 'bad caps' |
^^^ capacitors...two main ones to hold a charge.
