Around here they used to call them a Blue Meanie.
I rode one around the block and that was enough. Exhaust note going "Tang tang tang." A few revs then let the clutch out. All's well, then the revs got to about 3,000rpm and it took off full speed across the road nearly hitting the opposite side kerb. Get the bike straightened up. A little more gas, then it's doing a massive wheel stand down the middle of the road. That was enough. |
I had a 500 when I was in high school. Man, that was a bike !

I think my opinion might not be popular on this topic - I hated my H2. It vibrated even though it had the factory lead in the bar ends. The thing was only good for sprints in a straight line. Suspension was not great. Seemed perfect for one thing and one thing only. After I’d restored it I quickly sold it. Don’t miss it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1666631838.jpg

i had a blue H2. at age 17.
drag racing, from a standstill? - keep the back wheel spinning, or pay the price. i still can't believe i got away with it. it got especially hairy with someone on the back. i also got caught/kicked off the local harness racing track - it was one scary dirt tracker, with that infamous frame flex, while coming "on the pipe". young and stupid vs old and stupid. there is a difference. :) |

Honda CB750 bikes from the '70s were undeniably well engineered and extremely well made bikes for the era, my crowd was more interested in loud wheelie machines in those days like Triumphs and Nortons. A lot of us came around to better bikes like BMWs and Yamaha triples in the late '70s but Honda 750s were too slow for us. In hindsight, however, they were great bikes.

Thanks...I remember trading the bike in for a 900 Honda with the dual tranny. (High and Low)
It was way more powerful...but the 750 was more fun to ride. |

I wish I had a pic to prove it but my gf at the time and I rode 2 up from jersey to Cape Cod on the Kawi. She particularly enjoyed the buzzy feeling, her words not mine. Man, she was a good girl...both of them.

Pretty amazing prices at Mecum for the H2's. There was a short lived new record sale at $44,000. The following one went for $55,000. Crazy money.
