The next Pelican Meetup

While following Hurricane Ian on https://www.ventusky.com/ I spied the name of a location in Florida that inspired thoughts of fun, frolic, and merriment for a Pelican meetup.

Of course it was obviously under duress at the time, but I'm confident it will be cleaned up by the time we need it. And such a fun sounding name just cried out for a meetup and I know Byron could put together a rockin' good time with a band, a beer truck, and dancing babes.

So I went to Google Earth for a closer look.

It looks a little run down, but it has possibilities and there's a huge positive: we wouldn't have to clean up when we're done. What do you think?

Yeehaw Junction is a census-designated place (CDP) in Osceola County, Florida.

As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 240. The area was confused with
Buenaventura Lakes CDP in the 2000 census, and the correct data for the area
was not recorded.

Yeehaw Junction is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Yeehaw Junction is located at 27°42′00″N 80°54′16″W (27.7, -80.90444),
at the intersection of US 441/SR 15, SR 60 and Florida's Turnpike (SR 91),
approximately 30 miles (50 km) west of Vero Beach and 30 miles north of
Lake Okeechobee.
The location was named after the Yeehaw station on the Florida East Coast
Railway's Kissimmee Valley Line, which passed through Yeehaw Junction from
1915 to 1947.

I like the idea of a place named Desert Inn in the middle of Florida.

Always stopped there for Gator Burgers and Butweisers on our way to Vero Beach.Full of stuffed rattle snakes, Indians, hanging spiders. Actually quite an interesting place! At one time Desert Inn was on the register for historic places. I believe it was hit and demolished by an 18 wheeler a couple of years ago
