looking @vBMW 550
So, I know the engines have a rod bearing issue. It's low mileage 2011. Would replacing the bearings at purchase solve the problem?

So my understanding of the issue is too little clearance between the crank from the manufacturer. Ad to that people not maintaining their cars properly and high revs when cold all add to the inevitable. Also I'd be as concerned if it has the SMG trans which is very problematic. They are nice, but the maintenance and break / fix costs are just too much to bear. I'm a strong BMW guy, but wouldn't even consider a V8 from them. You can roll over to an Merc / AMG product - they seem to successfully make high performance engines and transmissions that don't require an overhaul at the 60K mark.
