Target spoon porn thread https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t20p25-show-me-your-bullseye-pistols
These are not “Olympic” type pistols, but rather “bullseye” type pistols. |
This list of exempt pistols from CA DOJ is probably a pretty definitive list of all the different Olympic type pistol brands extant, at least as of its date. https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/op.pdf
“Baikal” “IZH” is the brand I used to hear about, that I don’t see mentioned nowadays. I believe CA exempts these guns from its drop test and other safety requirements. |

Yeah they have 1-2% turds but they are copper washed and shoot just fine for everything I own. The most I'll spend is CCI Mini Mags (but again, I don't shoot for matches, hunting or defense. Just grins |
I really like the old Federal "red box" .22 ammo I used to buy a bunch of when my wife and I were practicing for and participating in a weekly competition at local gun store. I had a friend who always used CCI green tag (or something like that) for these pistol matches. He always scored very well at these matches. I convinced him to try my cheapo Federal from Walmart and it made zero difference in performance. I converted him. lol I am convinced most folks who shoot target with .22 "handguns" would ever notice a difference in accuracy due to using expensive vs cheap .22 ammo. There is some truth however that .22 handguns cycle better with different brands of ammo. Some of the cheap brands are also likely to contain duds. The Federal red box however is very reliable in my experience.
With .22 rifles shooting longer distances, I do not doubt that match grade ammo makes a difference however. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1667497844.jpg My trusty old slab side stainless Ruger .22 with modified trigger and grips.... Not a high end competition gun but it is better than I am. lol http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1667497844.jpg |
That is a beautiful Ruger! I really like the flats on the barrel, don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.
I’m getting tired of the Remington, too many duds (five tonight!) despite each dud having a nice deep strike. It is literally the cheapest 22LR you can buy . . . when I use it up I’m looking forward to trying other stuff. |
I’ve got an Colt AR15–22 and can’t hit the broadside of a barn when using the bipod. I think the barrel is flexing from the receiver. Even the Ranger couldn’t get it within 6 inches at 100 yards.

I’ve been trying out different ammo. So far:
- Remington Golden (6 c per round) has way too many duds - Federal Champion (6 c) very nice, one dud in [EDIT] 100 - Armscor cheap (6 c) but too long, jams up in the magazine, unusable - Aguila SE (6 c) vaguely sticky feeling, but worked fine, no duds in 50 - [EDIT] Fiocchi HV (10 c) one dud in 50, don’t need high velocity anmo So far I like the Federal best. I have more types to try. No accuracy comments. Yet. Maybe ever - think I’ll need a step function improvement in my shooting before differences in ammo accuracy is discernible. Just for fun, I sorted the list at ammobuy.com to put the most expensive .22 at the top. Woah, they make .22 LR TRACER!? |
