I've created a monster!
I finished 8 weeks of really successful physical therapy a couple of months ago and tried to hang on to the progress by walking 2-3 miles every day (in addition to the stretches and strengthening exercises). I was OK with not being real disciplined about the "every day" part.
I was feeling kind of cocky and started needling Vicki about getting out and getting some exercise. So we started walking together. Damn! She took to it like fish to water. She puts her hands in her pockets and her head down and rips off 2-3 18 minute miles every morning. Now, on those days when I'm just not feeling it she's suiting up and needling ME , "Let's go, those miles aren't gona walk themselves. Get up! Suit up! Let's GO ya pussy." ARGH!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1667142425.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1667142425.jpg |
It's alive!!!
Great stuff...move it or lose it.:D |
Fantastic. It's a good thing for her to be pushing. It would be too easy for you to slowly lose discipline and eventually stop.

Tell her she could be walking with a leaf blower. - Just say'n....
|
Good for her. I'm trying to get myself into a similar routine....

Our golf club did away with the cart plan and wanted you to pay $25 every time for the cart. A bunch of us started walking instead. My cholesterol went down, sugar went down, salt went down and the only thing I can attribute it to is the walking (I still eat exactly the same). 18 holes 3 days a week…it’s good for you! Hopefully you get similar results.

I have a dog that is pretty insistent about the walks. A nudge is good.

It's gotta be the shoes!

She could find a female walking buddy? My wife has one she arranges to walk with. In the meantime I prefer to go out on my mountain bike. Now that it is colder I will be walking more with my wife. Will still go out cycling on studded tires this winter but no so much.SmileWavy:)

I've sort of given up with steady walking lately, although I've been working on the roof, climbing ladders, etc. My wife has been walking & exercising for a long time, but lately has turned it up a notch trying to loose weight. She's out for four miles in about 70 minutes every morning & does an exercise workout in the afternoons. In addition, she's subscribed to "NOOM," where you weigh your food and track calories & servings. In her goal to loose weight, she's having success - down from 106 to 96 lbs. I'm down to 168 with no big effort on my own, except for being a bit stricter about my diet.
