Dryer location
 

I bought a condo in a quadplex. The dryer electrical outlet is currently about 10 -15 from garage door, venting at side of door. Washing machine is on back wall next to electric box.
My friends dad (who’s a retired electrician) said he would help me put outlet next to box. Currently can’t park in garage so an issue. My question is, now I need to run the exhaust hose another 15 feet, Is that an issue?

The only issue of a longer exhaust would be potential condensation in the tube. That would really depend on the garage temperature.

The additional tube length may also have more lint build up.

My guess is the temp would never get below 40 degrees. It in the center of the house in Charleston, South Carolina. Humidity never seemed bad when I was there in June. August could be another story, I can just make sure I have cleaned quarterly. It’s a pretty serious design flaw if I can’t use the garage. Condo is small so really no other place to move it without putting in a bedroom or the living room. Thanks.

You could get a condensing drier - no exhaust needed- but they are slow to dry.

Would a smooth, rigid tube help with that (vs flexible corrugated)? I think it would. But yes, I think more frequent cleaning would be in order.

I think in the apts that we used to live in the maintenance guys would come around with a leaf blower that would blow through the tube. You could tell when they'd do that cleaning because there would be lint outside that afternoon.

The smooth tube is a good idea. I run it a foot along the wall to the exit. Thanks all.

Rigid tube, with an inline blower to help with length of run. 30' is a bit on the long side. How many bends on this thing going out? Get a commercial type, because lint do not get caught up in the fan. It comes on via a switch that sense current off the dryer itself. None of the other type of auto switch work very well we discovered over the years.

Isn’t code 25 feet, no inline blowers and a 90° bend is worth 5 feet?
