Is it me or the for sale forum is spiraling down???

New scams every day
New scammers with new accounts everyday.
Dishonest sellers miss representing items(big surprised at arrival)
Paypal fees.
Professional re sellers and no hobbyist
Shipping costs (making it prohibited)
Lots of junk that belongs in a dumpster
One of a kind items shooting for the stars

It's just not was it used to be.
I prefer to go to a swap meet and deal personally, Maybe I'm old

What do you guys think?

I feel like the availability of parts has exploded as a lot of long-time hobbyists kept parts for years that weren't worth much previously that now are.

But the volume of scammers currently is ridiculous. Every time I mention interest in something, I get a scammer in my inbox pretending to be them.

Also, I've had a number of no-responds from sellers mere minutes after listing and being the first to reply.

Obviously, in person can't be beat but there are only so many swap meets every year.

I've noticed a lot of that, very frustrating when you have a few projects to finish. Shipping and PayPal fees are really painful. But, the dumpster comment, well, back in the 80s, I was at a Swapmeet in Greenville, SC, back in the 80s, and I had some rusty long hood fenders that I was about to toss in the dumpster. A older gentleman came up to me and explained that I would regret doing that, since the turn signal area could be grafted into a SC fender, and other parts as they became harder to find, the ratty ones would be desirable. Dang if he wasn't correct. Even with vintage BMX parts, a lot of people prefer to restore a ratted out part then buy a repop part. Some of these guys are so nuts that they will pay a premium price for a dated brake cable housing instead of an identical new one.

I wish the cars for sale forum was easier to search, or more like autotrader and similar.
Put in a model and a year range, maybe a price range, and see what you get. Add a good way to exclude sold threads.

There's a pair of repro early fenders for sale locally on FBM. The bottoms have been cut off, I assume for someone's long hood project.

I haven't been there in years. People think they are Midas. There is a very poor market for vehicles these days. It is not increasing at the level people think, it is tapering off as a matrer of fact. Your car isnt going to fund your retirement...get over yourself. JMHO
