From the past
Back from the days of "smash 'em" breaks in 9 ball...under a minute. Hope the link works..lifted it from a pool site. Hmmm, wonder if Danny here could dunk a basketball?

There was some remaining energy to manage.
Cripes, the spectators were in danger of losing a couple of teeth or getting a big bump on the noggin. That cue ball was a missile. Danny Harriman for President. |
Today's pros made it boring...figured out the break too well, using a cut break at a cue ball speed of around 18 mph, with a wing ball in the corner and 1 ball often in the side. Only excitement comes wondering if the breaker has a shot on the post break object ball.
I miss the old "smash em" days...(edit) Here's a short video of one of today's young guns explaining his break: <iframe width="1268" height="713" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VmJEcLjkfo0" title="How to Improve Your 9-Ball Break With Tyler Styer" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
