The Nosmo King is the name of the ship. Very common name in the Maccoa lines.

Yeah, Muddy Waters, all stirred up from recent storms. And BTW no smoking anywhere outside on deck i. e. don't throw any butts in the holds. (Make big BANG) Usually can smoke in your quarters, only, if at all.

I don't work on these ships anymore but still love to see them coming into port.

Kids / grandkids in town for Thanksgiving and my wife arranged a boat tour of the Savannah port. Very interesting tour.

The guide said the average life of a container ship is about 10 years. The Savannah port also had several RORO (roll on/roll off) ships that day. The guide said tractors and other big equipment are the main thing ROROs carry in the Savannah port.

When flying with my buddy down to St Simons Island for a $100 hamburger I have seen probably 8 or 10 of these big container ships sitting out in the ocean waiting to go into the port. The guide said a “pilot” has to go out there and board the ship to oversee it coming into the harbor. Really an interesting tour about how all that stuff works. If anybody gets a chance to take such a tour, I recommend it!

During my tenure as a Regulatory Affairs officer I've done many inspections at the ports of Newark and Baltimore. Those ports are truly amazing. Heavy equipment everywhere. Hustle and bustle at every minute. It's a wonder that they can track all that stuff (most of the time).

Even though I live 20 miles from one of the busiest port in the world, Long Beach and Terminal Island, Still I have no idea how all this stuff works. I always noticed all the ships are from elsewhere in the world. Monrovia, and now this past pic, Hong KOng. Tax purposes or we just don't own them anymore?

Still waiting for a “we’ll made” movie about a story from the “Oregon Files” by Clive Cussler.

A high-tec super advanced spy Tramp-Steamer cargo ship. A good, although predicable storyline. Audio books on my hour plus commute. I always think about the storys when I see these ships.

The app helped me find the info on this absolutely gorgeous vintage sloop we saw in the USVI. Was a local one owned in CA. All wood and requires serious maintenance to maintain. But still beautiful.
