Yesterday my 96 yr old father met my wife's 93 yr old mother for the first time.
So we put them sitting together and they started getting to know one another.
My wife's mother asked my Dad how his health is holding up and he proudly let her know that he gave himself an enema that morning.

I couldn't believe I heard him say that but what is funny is that she said... "well good for you."

I guess that means I am one of those "old people" as I have done that my entire life. Where I grew up, it was normal (part of a very simple life). Out "in the world" it appears that some folks really don't care for it. It was pretty hard for me to get used to folks that were guarded in conversations and not candid. I guess an acquired taste.

Not sure about honest, but often they have no filter. My mother just passed at 93, and we are caring for my father in law also 93. Especially my mother, they say what they think you want to hear, not necessarily the truth.

I no longer worry what other people think of me. I will still try to be polite but I have no problem with telling you what I honestly think. My wife and I have an expression: "I've met all the people I'm going to like"

Psychologically, people are a typical bell curve. As a child, we are self-centered, demanding, and impatient. As we mature, we learn to have concern for others and use self control. In advanced age, most people revert back to the early child-like behavior. I deal with advanced age customers by phone all day long. I've had them tell me without reservation that "I don't care what is fair" " I don't care what other people need" "I want what I want because I want it". Sometimes it take all my strength to not tell them what I think of their selfish attitude.

True story and TMI.

My stepdad is in a private nursing home where he has his own bedroom and bathroom and has 24/7 on-site care. One day, the attendant heard weird noises coming out of his room. Turns out he purchased a porn movie off their ATT Infinity account. The administrator alerted me about it the next day so I talked to stepdad. He admitted without shame to that sometimes he just wants to see some skin. He’s 83 and in I’ll health so I told the administrator that if stepdad wants to download movies, I’ll pay for them. Whatever he wants, within reason, is ok with me. He worked his butt off to provide for us growing up. It’s my turn now.

Had a little fun with a P.A. during a "wellness visit" earlier this week. The usual cognitive testing krap..same silly questions they give every year. Coversation came around to my missing the things I used to do. She's early 30's, still a kutie as far as I'm concerned...Anyway, should have seen her expression when I said I missed the wild monkey sex of youth. I think she got a sudden memory...LOL!
