Best auto under coating in wheel wells?

What is the best durable under coating to use in wheel wells? And what is the best primer/base to use before the undercoating?

I’ve got one flare built (but needs finish work) and before I undercoat it I need to spray a primer or something I’m thinking.

I can't exactly answer your question, and I assume weight is a consideration. I know that years ago, there was undercoating at most FLAPS. I imagine it was permatex brand or something like that. These days, rhinoliner might be a good option. I think that's available thick, thin, smooth, bumpy, etc....

I would think a layer of primer and a layer of paint would be all you need, help keep it from rusting away, problem with undercoat is when you need to go in and repair.

Get a couple cans of this you will be good to go. Let it cure 24 hours. Its dries like a rock.

This stuff works pretty well. No primer needed.

That’s why I think I need a primer or sealer of some kind before I put a final coat of Wurth or similar under coating or epoxy paint. Of course I need to prep everything with a wire wheel and sanding disc.

I like fluid film the best but it never sets up and you have to reapply it in high exposure areas. Penetrates.

This would be the Gravitex stuff.

I would go with what Jeff Hall recommended then the Wurth or Gravitex. You could use OSPHO to acid etch the bare metal before using the 2 part primer sealer but there is a process to that but well worth the effort.

No rust yet. Hopefully with primer/Saylor/under coating I can prevent it.

I’ll look into that. I have been been using Sem self etching primer.
