iPad external speakers

My wife likes to listen to her iPad while cooking. My problem is the sound wreaks havoc on my tinnitus.
Anyone use a good sounding external speaker system with their iPad?
I'm open to suggestions.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all here. Thanks for having me.

For my casual less than serious listening I have an Audioengine B2 in walnut. I like it. Had it about a year. Got my dad one for Xmas this year for his iPad. Looks great and sounds quite nice depending on where you place it

This is not rechargeable. You plug it in and leave it. It’s nice and heavy

Above link says discontinued but I just bought one on Amazon 2 weeks ago. Just checked and still there

Any Bluetooth speaker, or better yer a set of wireless ear buds?

cassisrot 12-24-2022 08:25 AM

I really like my JBL FLIP4 that I got a few years ago.

I don't think she'd go the ear bud route.
I like that Audioengine. Leaving it in the kitchen might prove problematical though as we don't have a lot of open shelf space with plug access.
Will these sound better than her Jawbone speaker? (I think that's what it was called, might be Jambone?)

What about going old fashioned? Nice pair of bookshelf speakers and a small receiver? I use a phone or Ipad with this system just outside of our kitchen.

I have a Bose Bluetooth speaker that sounds amazing. Easily transportable, and it works great.

It was "free" when I bought some expensive noise canceling aviation headphones. If you sit in a Cessna 172 or 182 for a few hours, the noise cancelling is a wonderful thing.

Sonos if you don’t mind spending a little. A few around the house can set a really nice atmosphere. I bought into them after hearing my neighbors.

Bose Soundlink II,

Costco has them on sale occasionally. I also have the small waterproof Bose portable one. Bose sound great and won’t break the bank. The quarter was tossed in for scale. The wifey has the grey speaker but mine is black. There a few color options.

For the office, I have an Audioengines B1 $190 and powered JBL LSR 305 speakers $220 the pair, no amp needed. These speakers are a lot better than I expected for the price, and way better than some little battery-powered Bluetooth speaker. You can adjust the bass and treble on the speaker, might help with your tinnitus. Stick it all up on top of your upper cabinets, out of sight and not taking up counter space.

For the kitchen I installed an Alexa Show under the cabinet so she can access our spotify or Sirius xm account. Sounded better on the counter but she likes it mounted under cabinet but sounds a bit boomy but very out of the way of stuff. We have a very small kitchen. I found the mount on Etsy. It’s 3D printed

Audioengine sounds really good but a bit big for a small kitchen

I have Bose, B&O and few others. Bose and B&O are great. However, I got a pair of JBL headphones from Ross for $20 and love them! I never understood why people wear those big OTE headphones, and now I know why! The sound is fantastic, and I don't bother anyone else. The best thing is I actually tune into it while doing other things. I'm in the kitchen a lot and have a movie streaming. Before, I would rewind to hear what was said. Now I hear it, and am able to prep/cook.

I've got Pebbles on a bunch stuff.

Got my wife a set with the Sub for her art studio which she runs off her iPad.

Nice sound even without the Sub and don't break the bank either

How do the Pebbles hook up to the iPad?
I'll admit to being totally ignorant of how Apple stuff works.

I'm looking at these:
