Does anyone still use Kaspersky Virus protection?

I used to run tdsskiller.exe once a month but when the who Russian thing happened, I stopped using it out of concern for hacking.

Was there any instances of their software being used to hack USA systems?
Does anyone use tdsskiller now?

I would not use it or any Chinese software. No way.

Isn't Kaspersky Russian?

Yes, its headquarters is based in Moscow. If you're running Windows 10 or 11, just use the built-in Defender.

I already have a great anti virus but I miss using tdsskiller - an excellent utility program to scan for and remove rootkits.

No one has used 3rd party virus software for many years now.
Windows Defender is built into Windows

haven't seen that stuff in forever but i do recall it slowed the ever loving **** out of whatever pc it was on. might as well go back to pony express.

Because "everyone uses..." is the best reason to have a separate software because hackers design attacks based on what is used the most. Also, because it doesn't stay resident in memory but you can run and then shut off.

If you're finding rootkits on your computer, you need to review your browsing and email habits. Runing a remover after the fact is too late. Defender is very good and you can always disable it if desired. Defender is automatically disabled if you install a third party antimalware product.

My wife likes to go wandering looking for interesting pictures and articles and sometimes gets things blocked. Her computer has nothing on it that is useful to steal. I just like to double check every month to see that nothing is corrupt.

i thought you rightwing non vaxers had really, really good immune systems?

stomachmonkey 01-02-2023 06:25 AM

3rd party AV is unnecessary.

All they do is slow things down and use up resources for little to no gain.

Over the years they have all at some point created vulnerabilities greater than what they intend to protect users from.

MSFT have done a great job with Defender.

That and some common sense is all you need.

funny but not appropriate in PPOT.

Let's ignore the post and not send this to PARF.
