Portable Fuel Analyzer Tester Kits
I got the run around from Shell, oh that's a independent owned gas station - nothing we can do about it.
The station isn't selling premium Shell but still charging top dollar, gas mileage, performance and seat of the pant tells me so. Real Shell in Ann Arbor, but not so in South Lyon MI. Before I file a complaint with the state I want to provide them with a video of me testing the gas if possible. I'm looking at octane numbers primarily but ethanol levels would be nice to know too. Some of these tester kits/tools are expensive, some are too cheap to be true, anyone have experience with these? Please suggest a brand and or source, I did a forum search but people using them did not mention brand or model numbers.

Yea, saw similar things in other threads.
Probably the cost difference is the vials are the cheap testers that only do ethanol, then it gets expensive from there. It would be nice if testing could be done just off the vapors like a breathalyzer.

It is very likely that any test kit worthwhile if not bought due to price not being palatable, then would be rented. I'm going to further guess that the rent price still will not be palatable.
As I'm sure you are aware, for MI, one can file a complaint here: https://www.michigan.gov/mdard/lab/motor/Gasoline-Information They do have the connections to do the testing. File a complaint with them. Then if you have any friends, that use the same station, ask them to file a complaint as well. |

Soooo. You're wanting to test for lead, octane and or ethanol?

I bet the same turd owns both gas stations, it's about time justice caught up with this guy. I will still be looking for an octane/ethanol combination tester that will not cost more than a fill up of premium. Did someone mention lead? I'm not drinking the stuff. ![]()
