Yup, I know. Not sure what your point is.. Mine would be that something designed by swedish engineers and funded and built in China can be a quality item, and that's scary news for the rest of the industry. No fed credit though, that's bad news (but fair).

The quality control Volvo gets out their Chinese factories is higher than they get out of their older and more automated plants in Sweden. If you control a factory in China, the quality can be outstanding and the cost is much lower. But I worry about political problems down the road.

Agree, put engineers in place at the factory and get a level of quality that is needed.
I also worry about getting service and parts. I don't expect enough of these to be sold so that independent repair will be available. Will be dealer only.
